Scared & Cozy finds a horror film two people actually agree on. One of you starts a night and reads out the four-letter code, the other joins it, and you both swipe the same deck. The first film you both say yes to is the film.

The code won't open a night

Codes last 24 hours. After that the night and everything in it is deleted, and the code stops working — start a fresh one.

If the night is younger than that, it is almost always a misread letter. Codes never contain I, L, O, 0 or 1, precisely because they are the ones people mix up when reading a code aloud. Seeing one of those means it is a misheard 1 for a 7, or an O for a Q.

You do not have to type it carefully, either. Paste the whole share message or the whole link into the code field and the app will find the code inside it.

It says the night is full

A night holds two people. If you both already joined and one of you reinstalled the app or switched phones, the app sees the new device as a third person — start a new night, which takes a moment.

We swiped the same film and nothing happened

A match needs both of you to say yes to the same film. If one of you has swiped further ahead than the other, the match appears when the slower one catches up to that film — not when the faster one passes it.

My watchlist is missing, or isn't on my other phone

There are no accounts yet, so your watchlist, the films you have marked as seen and their star ratings live only on the device you were using. They do not sync between phones, and deleting the app deletes them.

Accounts are planned, and syncing is the reason for them. Until then, treat the watchlist as belonging to the phone rather than to you.

Where to watch sends me somewhere else

Tapping through to see where a film is streaming opens its page on themoviedb.org in your browser, because that is where the availability information comes from. It is not a link the app can keep you inside.

I want my movie-night data deleted

It deletes itself within 24 hours, with no copy kept. If you want it gone sooner, write to us with the code. Anything on your device goes when you delete the app. The privacy policy sets out what is stored where.

Something else

Bug reports are genuinely welcome, especially ones with a code and roughly what time it happened — that is usually enough to reconstruct what went wrong before the session expires.
